From its inception in 1970 as a manufacturer of Nylon Tyre Cord Fabrics, SRF has evolved into a global conglomerate with diversified businesses. SRF has consistently embraced innovation, expanded internationally, and deepened its commitment to sustainability and social responsibility. With a strong foundation and forward-looking vision, SRF continues to shape industries and empower communities across the globe.

SRF began its journey in 1970 as Shri Ram Fibres, focussing on Nylon Tyre Cord Fabrics. The first plant was set up in Manali in 1974, followed by expansion into fishnet twines and engineering plastics by the end of the decade.
The 1980s marked SRF’s diversification into Belting Fabrics, Coated Fabrics, and Finance. In 1982, the company established its CSR arm, now known as SRF Foundation. The decade closed with SRF entering the Chemicals Business to manufacture Refrigerants.

In 1990, Shri Ram Fibres was renamed SRF Limited, reflecting its broader business scope. The company entered Packaging films, collaborated internationally for chemical technology, and launched its first overseas venture in Dubai.
SRF expanded its Specialty Chemicals Business and set up a major packaging films plant in Indore. It also acquired international facilities in Thailand and South Africa and launched the Polyester Industrial Yarn and Laminated Fabrics businesses.

This decade saw SRF deepen its global presence with packaging films facilities in Thailand and South Africa, and the acquisition of DuPont’s Dymel® brand. The Dahej facility became a major hub for chemical manufacturing and innovation.
SRF continued its global expansion with new facilities in Hungary and Thailand. It entered aluminium foil and PTFE polymer manufacturing, reinforcing its commitment to advanced materials and sustainable growth.
